Kelsey & Scott Birkhofer
Owners
The center has been family owned and operated for 45 years. Open since 1980, the Birkhofer family has both experience AND educational qualifications.
Kelsey Birkhofer has been working in childcare for 20 years and has her B.A. in Human Development & Family Studies from Warner Pacific College. Scott Birkhofer attended DDDC, has a Master's of Business Administration from Concordia University, and a B.A. from Linfield College. Outside of DDDC, they enjoy playing sports, attending Blazer games, and raising their three children, Madison, Andrew, and Luke.
Merry Bishop-McBee
Director
Merry has worked in childcare for 9 years - all with DDDC. She is from Gresham, and graduated from Portland State with a degree in Theatre Arts and minor child/family studies. She enjoys working with children because she loves bringing out a smile from those around her and enjoys creating a thriving space for child growth and learning. Outside of DDDC, she enjoys spending quality time with her son and husband and friends. She has a passion for music and theatre and making those around her feel loved.
Tara Lee
Director
Tara has worked in childcare for 9 years - all with DDDC. She is from Portland, and graduated from Portland State University - with a degree in education. She enjoys working with children because every day and child is different; and finding what brings them joy is inspirational. Outside of DDDC, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, and playing sports and watching Tik Toks!
Heather Mason
4's & 5's Teacher
Heather has worked in childcare for 35 years - all with DDDC. She is from Gresham, and attended Barlow High School. She enjoys the variety that the children create day to day. Outside of DDDC, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching movies.
Lee Huber
3's & 4's Teacher
Lee has worked in childcare for 45 years - 40 with DDDC! She is from Portland, and graduated from Clatsop College. She enjoys seeing the children immersed in a new activity, learning by doing. She also loves supporting the children as they let their creativity and imagination guide their projects. Outside of DDDC, Lee enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. Her lifelong goal is to someday write children's books.
Emily Moats
Toddlers
Emily has worked in childcare for 11 years - 10 with DDDC. She is from Portland and is attending Mt. Hood Community College. She enjoys spending time with the kids and watching them grow. She loves taking care of all the babies. Outside of DDDC, she enjoys going to concerts, being festive, watching hall mark movies, going to movies and hanging out with friends and family.
Brandi Fiebranz
Infants
Brandi has worked in childcare for 11 years - 8 with DDDC. She is from Portland, and graduated from Centennial High School. She enjoys seeing the children's faces at drop off as they are excited to see you. She also loves helping them accomplish milestones. Outside of DDDC, she enjoys going to concerts, movies, singing in the car, spending time with friends and her nieces.
